ABC Project
The Addressing Behavior Challenges Project gave me the ability to identify a problem and understand the behavior problem. I then created a plan for the behavior challenge and implemented the plan to daily instruction. During this project I learned more about professional strategies and was able to identify a strategy that I felt was appropriate for my classroom. |
ABC Powerpoint Presentation
This presentation was created as a continuum of my ABC project, and ultimately displays the data I collected on my student throughout the process of implementation. This presentation was given to colleagues as a demonstration of my research and implementation with my student. |
Comprehensive Classroom Management
I created a comprehensive classroom management plan by reviewing research based strategies for maintaining the appropriate authority and control in the classroom, as well as maintaining a positive environment/climate, physical organization of the classroom space, and well designed lessons and units. This plan includes flow charts for addressing non-compliant behaviors based on circumstance. |
Building a Crisis Response Plan
During my first year as a teacher, our school experienced a student suicide. I felt that this was an important topic to address, and I created a presentation designed for schools to implement in the event of a suicide. This presentation focuses to some degree on prevention, but more on the postvention for students and staff affected by a school wide crisis. |
Re-purposed Lesson Plan
The objective of this project was to take an existing lesson plan and improve it by incorporating technology to make it more accessible to students. I transformed a basic PowerPoint presentation into a Pear Deck presentation, which allows for class-wide interactive features. This improves student engagement and inclusion. Within the document includes a link to a shared Google Drive account in which one can view all of the materials used in the re-purposed plan. |
Student Interviews and Analysis
I interviewed five of my tenth grade Biology students to identify how and why they think about certain topics in the Biology content area. The question were designed to address inquiry and the scientific practices/ cross-cutting concepts being taught in class. |
Coaching Behavior Analysis
For this project I collected data on a fellow swimming coach to determine the relationship between his behaviors and that of his athletes. The goal of this project was for me to reflect upon my own behaviors by observing that of others, and how it affects the performance and mentality of my athletes. |
Herpetology Thesis
I spent a semester researching the venom delivery system in Viperids; a highly evolved species of snake. Often people incorrectly portray snakes as primitive creatures on the evolutionary scale, but my research shows that they are highly evolved and highly sophisticated organisms that can consciously meter their venom delivery on attack. This helps scientists to explain the prevalence of dry bites on humans. |
